Do You Have to Mail Manila Envelopes with Only One Stamp?

How Many Stamps Do I Need for a 5×7 Manila Envelope?
Manila envelopes of 5 x 7 inches are the most common size. They meet USPS standard-size letter requirements.
USPS can mail standard-size letters using its First-Class mail service.
If your 5 x 7 manila envelope weighs 1 ounce or less, you only need one Forever Stamp to cover postage. Forever Stamps start at $0.58
If your envelope weighs more than 1 ounce, you will need to attach additional postage.
USPS charges $0.20 for each additional ounce (up to a maximum of 3.5 ounces total). Online or in your local postoffice, you can buy additional ounce stamps.
USPS will charge you accordingly if your manila envelope is more than 5×7 inches in weight.
What Stamps Are Required for a Manila Envelope 6×9?
Like the 5×7 envelopes, 6×9 manila envelopes meet USPS standard-size letter requirements.
Therefore, they are also sent via First-Class mail service. For mailing postage charges, one Forever Stamp can be used as long the total weight of your package is not greater than 1 ounce.
For 6 x 9, envelopes weighing between 1.1 and 2 ounces you will need to purchase an additional stamp, priced at $0.20.
The same applies to envelopes that weigh between 2.1 ounces or 3.0 ounces. You’ll require 2 additional ounce stamps.
Your 6×9 envelope must not exceed the maximum weight of First-Class mail at 3.5 ounces. If it does, your envelope will be charged as a flat/large envelope.

This size manila envelope is the most commonly used, as it accommodates standard paper measuring 8 1/2 x 11 inches.
This size envelope is classified by USPS as large flats/envelopes.

You will need 2 Forever Stamps, at the current rate of exchange to pay for the cost of one 9 x 12-ounce manila envelope.
An additional ounce stamp must be purchased for each additional ounce. Current prices are $0.20
For example, for a 2-ounce 9×12 manila paper envelope, three stamps are required (2 Forever Stamps plus an additional 1 ounce stamp).
Four stamps are required for a 3-ounce envelope (2 Forever Stamps, and 2 Additional Oz Stamps).
Do I have to use Forever Stamps with a Manila Envelope
There’s no harm in using Forever Stamps on manila mail envelopes. However, metered postal service is often a better choice.
Metered postage can be purchased at the post office or via authorized postage meters leased to small businesses.
Not only does metered postage look more professional, but it will prevent you from under or overpaying for postage, and may reduce delivery delays.
