Can You Drop Off Usps At Ups In 2022? (Your Full Guide)
Perhaps you’ve heard of FedEx/USPS Business Partnership, which was established in 2001.
What about UPS and USPS? Is there a working relationship between them that allows the two to be interchangeable?
Namely, can you drop off USPS at UPS? Is this something you have ever tried? The answer is here.
What is the best way to get USPS from UPS 2022?
Currently, it is not in customers’ best interests to drop off their USPS packages with UPS, unless the shipper is a member of the UPS Mail Innovations Returns program. UPS can still get your packages to the USPS if you drop off a wrong parcel.
What happens if you put a USPS package in a UPS Drop Box
Short answer: Your package will very likely make it back into the hands of USPS, but it could take a few extra business days.
Additionally, as the package is being handed over, you are completely at the mercy and control of its handlers. You have no idea where or how to track it.
Now let’s get going.
Let’s say you run around getting the shipments out. Then you drop off a USPS box at your local UPS dropbox.
As reaching in to the bin is dangerous, UPS will make sure it gets the shipment to the shipper.
The good news is: UPS generally delivers on-time, and with very little disruption to your expected delivery time.
This is due to the fact that such mistakes are so common.
To avoid these mistakes, the top shippers, UPS, FedEx and USPS, have all made it a part of their daily routines to collect any packages that they are responsible for.
What if it’s intentional? Do you believe the shippers can be interchangeable?
They aren’t. And while UPS may be able to continue your success as an alternative for USPS Drop-Off, it will ultimately inconvenience your recipient.
To account for the extra time it takes to move ownership of the package to USPS from UPS, you can add at most one additional day.
Transfers can take up to three times longer, which will prolong the wait for your recipient.
You will also have to wait longer for the parcel to be returned because UPS doesn’t provide you with a receipt.
There is virtually no possibility of retrieving a package that has gone missing following a misplaced UPS drop-off. The usual routes for finding it, like its travel history and other avenues of contact are not available.
The best thing for both you and your recipient is to get rid of the UPS and drop your USPS package with USPS.
The system will scan them faster, and it will be easier for you to locate them.
Are you able to place the USPS packages in an UPS Access Point
UPS Access Points cannot be used as an alternative for dropping off parcels at the Post Office.
UPS Access Points are UPS-partner retailers that accept UPS packages and businesses that pick up and drop them off. They also tend to have manned service desks.
For example, there is one in my city’s Kohl’s store, and you simply go up to the customer service desk for pick-up or drop-off.
While it can be easy to drop off a USPS parcel in an UPS drop box by mistake, it is much less common for the package to be accepted if the UPS Access Point has a human.
If the associate isn’t really paying attention, they’ll catch you using the wrong shipper.
Because a USPS barcode does not look the same as an UPS,
How do you handle dropping a UPS package at the Post Office
As I have mentioned before, shippers don’t always work together. However, their experience has shown them that errors are bound to happen and packages will end up being sent to the wrong person.
So if you drop off a UPS box with the Postal Service, you can expect much the same as when the situation is reversed.
UPS will come eventually to retrieve their parcels. But until they do that, your box is in la la-la, undistractable and untrackable.
However, one exception exists to the rule that you shouldn’t abandon your UPS packages at the Post Office.
And that is if you are the recipient of a parcel from a sender who participates in the UPS Mail Innovations Returns.
This program is specifically geared toward regular shippers (small ecommerce businesses would be one example) who also deal in regular returns.
It seems to be the latest edition of UPS Returns Flexible Access 2010, which UPS launched in 2010.
This allows recipients to return their packages with ease. The shipper will provide the purchased label. Packages can also be dropped off at any Post Office.
Or, you can leave the item in the mailbox to be picked up by the mail carrier.
The best thing about this program? It scans your parcel immediately after receipt. This allows you to follow it on every step of its journey.
This is the one and only instance where it’s advisable to send a UPS package back to the Postal Service.

UPS should never be used by customers for USPS mail packages.
UPS and USPS both can send parcels between them for delivery. However, these packages can be traced only after the appropriate shipper scans them into their system.
Do I have to Bring Up Usps for the Guys?
Yes. You can drop USPS labeled parcels off at UPS shops.
Are There Any Prepaid Usps Products I Can Drop Off?
You can drop your package at any USPS location without having to wait in line if it has domestic shipping labels. You can drop your packages off at the blue mailboxes or Post Office drop boxes if they fit. Some Post Offices have designated spots on their counter to accept prepaid parcels.
